Retailer appetite guide

Green, yellow, and red creator risks.

A quick producer cheat sheet for deciding whether to proceed, gather more detail, or refer before anyone says something stupid like “sure, that is probably covered.”

Green

Usually straightforward

  • Lifestyle, education, entertainment, reviews, podcasts, newsletters
  • Clean sponsor history and normal brand deals
  • No prior takedowns, demand letters, or claims
  • Clear disclosures and ordinary commercial operations

Yellow

Needs underwriting context

  • Regulated topics: finance, health, legal, employment, crypto, supplements
  • Minors, live events, memberships, courses, coaching, or paid communities
  • Heavy reaction/commentary/callout content
  • Merch, licensing, collaborations, or borrowed media assets

Red

Referral before promising anything

  • Prior claims, open demand letters, unresolved takedowns, platform strikes
  • Adult/explicit, hate/harassment allegations, illegal activity themes
  • Investment advice, medical treatment claims, guaranteed outcomes
  • Known litigation target or intentionally inflammatory publishing model

Retailer move

Run a profile scan first. If the scan is clean, move to application. If it returns yellow or red signals, use the scan report as the underwriting note and referral artifact.
